A
perfect day
in the city by the bay...
It
started out cool and cloudy, and warmed up as the blacktop
filled and anticipation grew for the kick-off of the new
season! 49er fans were excited about our Tour, and grabbed
up the give-aways. Word spread throughout the lots, as more
and more people made their way to our space and said, "hey,
my buddy said you guys are giving away Frank's Red
Hot Sauce" or "do you have any more aprons?"
Jay
even did a rooftop interview with a reporter from SFTV.
They climbed up on top of the Tailgating Tour coach for
a birds-eye view of all the pre-game activity. We can't
wait to see it!
All
day, we had would-be blacktop chefs bringing by plates of
their tailgating specialties, like portabello-wrapped crablegs
and spicy grilled sausage. We even had one fan bring over
his favorite Chardonnay for a taste -- hey, it is
San Francisco! Tailgaters here were laying out spreads that
included brie and crackers, alongside a wide variety
of local vintages.
Our
new friends at Fat Tire Planet tours were
anxious to show off their hot rig, Engine #1. They were
out on the blacktop, grillin' up tri-tips and letting tailgaters
climb aboard their restored vintage fire engine.
By
the time the food was ready for our Taste-off, we had a
line of people waiting to try the grilled "Oysters
with Chipotle Horseradish BBQ Sauce", "Baby
Backs, Baby!" and "Sweet n' Spicy
Meatballs". And while the fans loved them
all, in the end Fred Santillan's ribs won
him the title of Blacktop's Best. Congratulations, Fred! |
