They
don't call it "heaven" for nothin'...
At
first glance, it may be hard to imagine why this little
strip of parking lot sandwhiched between the Viaduct and
stadiums in Seattle would be called Tailgater's Heaven.
When we arrived just after seven, the blacktop was still
littered with the remnants from the Cougar
game on Saturday.
But
by the time the clouds had cleared to reveal a breathtaking
view of the Seattle skyline, the lot had been cleaned up
and the faithful had begun to pour into their piece of paradise.
Grills
were smoking and friends were gathering together to eat,
drink, and even play poker. Footballs were being tossed
across the lot, and one especially spirited bunch of "Superfans"
even put on a parade!
We
held a drawing for people who stopped by our space, and
gave away a Portable Campfire from Camp
Chef!
On
our tour of "Heaven" we sampled tri-tips topped
with grilled onions, bacon-wrapped shrimp, a chicken-cheese-bean
dip, and an amazing salmon spread.
But
the title of Blacktop's Best went hands down to "Uncle
Ja", whose Hefeweizen Chili
beat out Dave Black's mouthwatering Kalbi
Flank Steak and Kim Harris' savory
Cedar Plank Salmon.
