Championship Day in Colts Territory! -- Indy Baby...
The Tailgating in Indianapolis is always fun. Huge lots, great views and the luming of the new dome. Just a year ago, it was a few sticks jutting out of a construction zone, now, the dome is taking shape and the anticipation can be heard in everyone's voice.
On opening Day, the crowd was excited, and a bit nervous about New Orleans coming into town. So, we gathered a group- and headed to the new Blue Crew Sports Grill.
The Blue Crew Grill is an offshoot of a Colts Fan Club. They have a very impressive horseshoe bar and the memorabilia is off the wall - well, it's actually ON the wall, but it is very impressive. Behind the bar, a large screen TV is framed in by a goal post, and off to the right is THE famous field goal attempt by, well, I was instructed to never say the name! There is a piece of trivia for you, which Colt Kicker missed an important field goal to the RIGHT!
While at the Blue Crew Bar, I met up with Joe Cahn, the Comissioner of Tailgating himself. We shared some thoughts and a lot of laughs the night before the big game. He was traveling- of course- with the infamous Sophie, the navigator cat, who is always up for picture taking. Sophie is by far the most well traveled pet I've ever met! Keep on truckin' Sophie...

The great part about traveling to a different stadium every week is that I get to meet all kinds of great people from all over this great nation of ours. In Indy, I even got to meet a few New Orleans folk who traveled with their native food all the way to Indy to share their great traditions with the Colts fans. As seen here, this famous ice chest is about as well traveled as Sophie!
And here is one of my all time favorite games... BEER PONG! Colts fans were out and about despite some inclement weather playing all the favorites, beer pong, corn hole and even a few washer pitches! That's the beauty of the tailgate lot, people spending time with family and friends and enjoying a day overflowing with food, fun and football!
