A little Chi-Town and Jay's a happy guy! -- Chicago...
OK, I flew into O'Hare on Wednesday just in time to find an internet connection in the airport and broadcast live in Chicago! It was fun watching all the travelers hurry past and shoot me the most bizzare looks and expressions. Ny the time I wrapped up my hour, I had a small audience and even got a standing 'O!" Well, they were already standing, but I always wanted to say that. I hurried to my rental car and drove straight to my favorite place in downtown - Pizzaaria Uno!
After a short evening's rest, I woke to the bustling of Chicago. I was staying right in the heart of downtown. I walked the streets along Michigan Avenue and found my Dunkin' Donuts coffee to help keep me going! That evening, I headed into Wrigleyville with Billy the Kid. We had a great time and a few Jack and Cokes! Thanks for the night out Billy!
After a couple nights out on the town, I needed some churchin' up, so the blacktop Babe gave me a heads up on a shrine in the nearby area. So, I drove to see the Shrine of Saint Joaquin. Very cool - on the South Side in Chicago.
Later that day, I hooked up with my host for the weekend, Tim Shanley. I was very excited to be part of da Bus' kick-off for the season. After the shopping was done, da Bus itself was given a little attention. My new buddy Matt helped us detail da Bus inside and out in an enjoyable warm and sunny day
The prep that goes into this tailgate party is incredible. An entire day of menu planning and shopping followed up by another entire day of planning and loading and maintenance. It was very exhausting, but it was all worth the experience of sending out da Bus on its season home opener! |
