Sun, Sun and more Sun! -- ARIZONA...
We arrived so early, we tailgated the day before the game! I was very excited to have Karen, Nick and Frankie with me when I showed up to the University of Phoenix Stadium. I know, It's very confusing that a University sponsors an NFL Stadium, but alas, someone has to pay the bills...
Beautiful stadium and plenty of room for tailgating. I'm in the middle of a media segment here with Brad form Channel 3. We talked avocados and set-up!
When I arrived at the stadium, we were unexpectedly greeted by Spike the Ball from the Arizona SuperBowl Host Committee. He and Frankie had a good time hanging out. It was nice to have a tailgate party with folks that are from the SuperBowl. Hopefully, they'll be around for Super Gate 08!
Well, the first tour, Frankie choose Green Bay as his team. Last year, he took the Colts! Although his loyalties still lie with the Packers, he has chosen the Arizona Cardinals as this year's favorite. As you can see, Big Red helped his decision along. Frankie was the only kid around, and Big Red thought he was something special. They played catch for close to 3 hours! In the end, Big Red gave Frankie a new shirt and an autographed picture.
With another surprise arrival, Big Red and I were very happy to see the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders. They performed for us and the camera, and drank a few Who's Your Daddy Energy Drinks. Thanks for all the fun ladies...
A great start to a much anticipated Tailgate Season. I did tow different channels in Phoenix showing off my Southwest Grilled Avocados with my famous Corn Salsa. Bram form the local NBC affiliate helps me out here on camera as were fixed Hass Avocados for the morning show staff. Just an FYI - 8:30 am and 98 degrees! Ouch!
Phoenix ended with another hot day, but in the end, we all had fun in the Sun. This is so amazing, the beautiful new stadium was built to look like a rattlesnake coiled around a barrel cactus. It's very shiny and very impressive looking. And, for a pre-season game, a sold out crowd made the entire tailgate day a very energetic one!
