Pittsburgh Steelers !

Anne Holmes
"Stewed Lamb"

Even judges who confessed they weren't huge lamb fans had to admit that Anne's Stewed Lamb was the tastiest dish in the Taste-off.

And she had plenty of friends with her to cheer when she won the title of Blacktop's Best, and the new Big Gas Grill from Camp Chef!

The Story

Making friends!

We lined up outside the Gold lots, and waited with some die-hards until they opened. They gave us the scoop on the tailgating scene in Pittsburgh, and helped us get a spot in the reserved lots.

But as we pulled in, we realized this was not a town that was going to welcome Jay's full-sized Seahawks helmet on our dash! The parking guys actually threatened to charge us extra if we didn't get rid of it

So of course, once we were parked and all set-up, Jay wasted no time putting on the helmet and his Alexander jersey. Then he grabbed his rally towel from Superbowl XL and ran through the lots, waving it overhead. The man rally knows how to make friends!

But he made up for it by grilling up a whole pile of some genuine Gates-style ribs in honor of the game against KC and sharing them with the neighbors. In no time, the ribs were gone and all was forgiven.

Pittsburgh boasts some of the best tailgating we've seen, and it wasn't hard to find great food, big crowds, amazing set-ups, and cool rigs.

We even spotted more than a few KC fans enjoying the hospitality of their opponents. In fact, the husband of our Kansas City winner, Cheryl Zapata, was in the lot and stopped by to say "hi" (and try some ribs, of course!

The guys next to us had a great Steelers van and piles of food they were only too happy to share, including some Cherry Bombs I'm still feeling today! We love neighbors like that!

Our Taste-off drew a good crowd and some great recipes, and we were glad to have judges willing to work their way through it all. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!

The winners included the stewed lamb, a jalapeno burger, sausage-on-a-stick, a buffalo chicken dip and yummy pumpkin bread!

A generous fan gave Jay a ticket to the game, (which were pretty tough to come by!) so he went into the stadium and enjoyed the game along with stunning views of the three rivers.

After that, we went for walk along the river and found boats tied-up all along the Allegheny, with fans "tailgating" on the docks!

And on our way back to the campground, we drove across the bridges over the rivers sparkling with city lights, and through the downtown streets filled with fans walking to their favorite sports bars to celebrate a Steeler's victory!

SuperFan !

Without a doubt one of the most memorable Superfans we've met, Gee Schwafenstocker flaunts her Steeler Spirit while her husband Tom does the cooking. Together, they're known as The Terrible Bra and Grill!

Sweet Ride !

This gorgeous RV comes with a custom Steelers graphics package from Valero Century in Pittsburgh. It's the only one of its kind, and when it's sold they'll design a new Steelers Mobile with it's own unique custom graphics!

Talk about tailgating in style!
